KC Care Kit Program (NEW)
The Build A Bag Care Kit Program provides thoughtfully assembled bags filled with essential items to individuals and families facing hardship. Each bag is designed to meet immediate needs while offering dignity, comfort, and encouragement during difficult times.
Bags may include hygiene items, basic necessities, seasonal supplies, and handwritten notes of support. Care kits are distributed through community partners such as shelters, schools, foster organizations, and outreach programs to ensure they reach those who need them.
Our goal is simple: to show care, restore confidence, and remind recipients that they are not alone.
$10 = 1 Care Kit filled with essentials, dignity, and hope.

Valentines Cards shedding light and love to the homeless.

Step Into Success (NEW)
Step Into Success is a Build A Bag KC giving-back program designed to help school-aged children start the school year confident, prepared, and ready to succeed.
Through this program, eligible students receive a new backpack filled with essential school supplies along with a brand-new pair of shoes—because having the right tools and feeling confident can make a powerful difference in a child’s academic journey.
At Build A Bag KC, we believe no child should feel left behind before the first day of school. Step Into Success removes financial barriers for families while restoring dignity, confidence, and excitement for learning.
Applications & Availability
Applications for Step Into Success will open in February 2026.
Spots are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Adopt An Athlete: Holiday Giving Tree (3rd year)
The Adopt An Athlete: Holiday Giving Tree is Build A Bag KC’s annual holiday program designed to support youth athletes and their families during the holiday season.
Through this program, community members “adopt” a local athlete by providing sports equipment, gear, and essentials—helping ensure every child can continue participating in the sports they love, regardless of financial barriers. This program is about more than gifts; it’s about dignity, encouragement, and reminding young athletes that their dreams matter.
Each year, Adopt An Athlete allows us to connect families with meaningful support while bringing the community together around generosity, teamwork, and hope.
